1998-2003, Enka Schools, Istanbul,
Turkey As a full time Art Teacher in grades K-4 during my first two years at Enka Schools I prepared lessons, developed curriculum and taught classes in art using English as the main language of instruction to predominately monolingual Turkish students. During my third year at Enka I worked to integrate technology into the English Program (for teachers, students, and administrators) and assisted teaching English to special needs students. For three years I taught computers and technology in grades 4 to 7 and led in developing the technology curriculum to meet international standards. I served on various committees, which included the Technology Committee, Playground and Behavior Committees. I was chairperson of the School Restructuring Committee. I worked on the founding of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Student Tutoring Program. I co-supervised the Computer and Website clubs. I helped produce an earthquake picture book, parent handbooks, internet and intranet sites for the school, various posters and graphics, and a recruitment slide show. I led various fund raising activities for Kosovo refuges and earthquake victims. I presented different workshops for teacher training at conferences including; use of art materials, classroom management, fostering creativity, assessment, and use of technology in the classroom. |

1996-1998, Pine Villa Elementary, Goulds,
Florida As a full time Art Teacher I prepared lessons and taught nineteen to twenty-one art classes weekly for grades two to five. Some of my students had limited English ability so I received special training to work with them. I developed a multi-cultural art curriculum that focused on the arts of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Reading and art history were also embedded in unit projects. Additionally, I taught reading as a Reading Assistant five hours a week for a first grade class. I served on various school committees. The students and I produced works to enliven the school environment. We designed and painted stage decorations and props for student plays and the backdrops for the morning televised school announcements. I served as chairperson of the Special Areas Department. I was the school's liaison with the Teacher Education Center. I am certified by the State of Florida, Art K-12. My certificate is currently valid until and renewable in 2008.
